November in the Library

COLOURS OF WATLINGTON 2027 CALENDAR IS NOW ON SALE I am delighted to say that our FOWL 2027 Calendar is now on sale. This year’s theme of ‘Colours of Watlington’ has produced some really striking images and I hope that you will enjoy it! Thank you to all those photographers who took the time to enter and to all our wonderful sponsors too. The calendar will be available in the library, The Granary Delicatessen and Watlington Fine Wines for £10 including an envelope. The perfect, dare I say it, Christmas gift!!

AUTHOR TALKS We will be marking Remembrance Day by welcoming back David Keable-Elliott on November 20th. Drawing on an extensive archive of extraordinary family papers, David will speak about his grandfather’s experiences in World War I; giving a personal insight into the life of a family dramatically shaped by the events of their time. It is an evening not to be missed and tickets are available now.

TECHNOLOGY HELP IN THE LIBRARY Our new technology help sessions are up and running. Those who had signed up last month came along to an hour- long session where they could ask questions and hopefully receive some practical assistance on topics such as managing email/documents, spotting scams, using QR codes or managing files to name a few examples. Although it is early days, the feedback has been very positive and hopefully will help us tailor the sessions moving forward. If you are interested in coming along to the sessions at the beginning of this month (November 4th) and next (December 2nd) just pop into the library to reserve your free place and let us know what you would like help with. You are welcome to come with or without your own device. Please note that these sessions do NOT provide IT diagnosis or repairs. Thank you so much to Watlington and District Age Concern (WADAC) for the funding to make this possible.

FOWL FA Our wonderful FA team are holding a Harry Potter Event aimed at 8-12 year olds (accompanied by an adult) on Saturday November 21st. from 4-5.30pm. To find out more and to pick up your free ticket, just pop into the library. In the meantime, Rhymetime will fall on November 3rd and 17th; Storytime on November 7th and 21st and Lego Club on November 28th.
