Join The Friends of Watlington Library
The Friends of Watlington Library, FOWL, is a registered charity that exists to protect, support and promote our community library here in Watlington. FOWL was created at a time when many small local libraries were at risk of closure – and to the present day the Friends have faced and overcome a diverse number of challenges to ensure that our community library remains a thriving presence at the heart of our town. After over 25th years, we continue to support and promote our library as the wonderful resource that it is: a social, cultural and educational hub of value to all the community.
Our members help us to:
- Keep our library fully staffed and operational as FOWL contributes annually to librarian costs, signing a legal agreement with the Oxfordshire library service
- Provide additional financial assistance where necessary for things that the library may need
FOWL also:
- Runs a dynamic Family Activities group as an essential way to inspire young children to visit the library as early as possible. We run regular Storytimes and Rhymetimes, host children’s authors and subsidise children’s events such as Theatre and ZooLab visits. This year we have also started a monthly Lego Club for the families of Watlington
- Promotes local artists within the community
- Runs a programme of author talks
In all that we do, we help to support the library both financially and practically.
Thank you to all our current members. Please don’t forget your annual membership is due for renewal now (April). If you are not yet a ‘Friend’, please consider joining us to keep our library an active and special place in our community. Just fill in our membership form printed here and bring it into the library. If you prefer, you can download a membership form at friendsofwatlingtonlibrary.org
Thank you from all the Trustees of the Friends of Watlington Library
