Our good friend Sylvia Vetta has co-written a book with Nancy Mudenyo Hunt that covers many challenging and pertinent issues in our world today. Please contact any on the library committee if you would like to join us for what promises to be a very interesting evening.

Not So Black and White is a must-read book tackling race, culture and changing societies in Kenya and England and the common humanity that lies beyond these differences. This compelling story follows Precious Mukosi from rural Kenya to cosmopolitan London, where she finds her new home just as tribal as the one she left behind.
Following the recent Black Lives Matter protests the Oxford Mail described Not so Black and White as THE book to read. It shows just how empowerment transforms lives, through a cast of unforgettable characters.
This is an unusual novel in many ways; not least as it is written by two authors
Our good friend freelance author and speaker Sylvia Vetta is well known to us and we have enjoyed hearing her talk about her previous projects on many occasions at Watlington library. Here, Sylvia has joined forces with one of her Oxtopian castaways to look at difficult issues inspired by Nancy’s own life experience in Kenya and the UK.
Nancy Mudenyo Hunt is the 13th daughter of a Luhyia tribal chief in western Kenya. She moved to the UK and had a successful career as a leadership trainer for Thames Valley Police. She founded the Nasio Trust back in her homeland and established the Exit 7 programme to help young people in the UK who were drifting into antisocial behaviour or had lost direction. In recognition of her achievements transforming young people’s lives, Nancy was awarded the NatWest Most Inspirational Woman award and an Honorary Doctorate by The Open University for her exceptional contribution to development and countering social exclusion.
The Nasio Trust is an Oxfordshire based charity that seeks to empower communities in Western Kenya and now also Tanzania to break the cycle of poverty by providing education, improving health and developing commerce through sustainable income generating projects. www.thenasiotrust.org All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to the Nasio Trust
