FOWL Subscriptions waiver

The past few months have been a challenging time. We recognise that the lack of library service has been frustrating to many, particularly as other counties have announced openings of their libraries. Rest assured that we and our wonderful library manager Libby have been pushing for some sort of opening of our library for some time – but we have been thwarted by the complexities of the overall service, which is looking more broadly at all libraries in Oxfordshire and not at individual libraries, layouts and circumstances. We will continue to push for Watlington to open soon, as much as we can.

We are mindful of the fact that people have not had the benefit of our wonderful library for some time, and we are also mindful of the difficult financial situation that many individuals and institutions are facing.  Taking these factors into account, the Trustees have decided to waive membership subscriptions to FOWL for this financial year. We feel it is an important gesture in these uncertain and surreal times and acknowledges the circumstances we now find ourselves in.

Of course we are also acutely aware that our capacity to generate our usual income to cover our financial commitment to the Oxfordshire Libraries is severely compromised by our inability to host our author talks in the foreseeable future. With this in mind if anyone would instead like to make a donation to FOWL this year, we would be very grateful.
